Since I started blogging, a once-upon-a-time hobby has been resurrected. Photography. I have always loved the click of the shutter. My 35mm camera took beautiful pictures, but I set this hobby aside some time ago because I didn't go anywhere special to use the camera to advantage. Now, with my digital camera, I'm really having fun again. I'm amazed at some of the pictures I have taken lately, at how clear and brilliant they are. In some of the florals you can even see the hairs on the leaves. Today I caught a beautiful black and blue butterfly in my lens - the one in the above photo. I will have to do a search to find out what it is called. I'm no professional, but a shot like this brings me great pleasure.
There is another advantage to this hobby of mine. I have been walking, breathing in fresh air and soaking up the summer sunshine at Waterworks Park in St. Thomas Ontario, at Port Burwell, at Port Stanley. Peace flows over me as I look at the fine details of nature. Flowers, profuse in number and variety, have filled my lens with a beauty that overwhelms me. With the soft breezes blowing in my face, the beauty of God's creation in my eyes, and my camera in my hand, there is an illusion of being in a magical place. This is a place to relax, to unwind, to heal. It's part of healthy living. For a short while, I experience life in the slow lane.
I leave with you a question: How does your hobby benefit your healthy living?
